Thank you everyone who attended our Prepping for Tableau Conference discussion in early April. We shared tips and chatted about what to pack, how to meet people, sessions you're looking forward to, and more. DataPride is all about building community among LGBTQ+ people and allies, and we prepped for #TC25 together. 📊🌈

Here's a document that outlines all of the great advice shared: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DzALrSYW6hTE03TIcPsZFXzlX7B5Uncen_v2hWTE1VE/edit?usp=sharing

Pride Datasets

  • June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month - Uplift the queer community and create a pride-related viz on Tableau Public!

    • Back 2 Viz Basics - In recognition of PRIDE month, the 2024 Wk 12 data set is a collaboration about the history of the Gay Games. The Gay Games website describes the games as “the world's largest LGBTQ+ sports and culture event, hosted once every four years in a different location around the world.”

      • Your task this week is to identify an insight from this data set, display it with a chart, and use an annotation to call attention to a specific data point.

      • Access the dataset here: https://data.world/back2vizbasics/2024week-12

  • Makeover Monday - Can you uncover insights and create compelling visuals to showcase the trends in LGBT identification across different generations in the United States? 📊✨

The dataset reveals the percentage share of U.S. adults who identify as LGBT, broken down by generation—Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, Baby Boomers, and Traditionalists—over four survey years: 2014, 2017, 2020, and 2022.
